The Home Rubber Company has been a quality manufacturer of specialty rubber products since 1881 and is the leading producer of custom tubes and sleeves, hand-built hose, gaskets, sheet products, food grade products, custom compounding and specialty items. After more than 140 years in the rubber industry, the principles set forth by its founder – commitment to quality, individual attention to customers and their needs, and constant innovation - have been the building blocks of success for Home Rubber and are still their guiding principles today. 

This plant tour will focus on their constant innovation principal, and will highlight their newest strategic initiative, Lean Manufacturing. Historically considering the company as a “job shop,” a slight shift in emphasis to think of the company in modern times as “high mix / low volume” has opened the door to allow for the concept of Lean in the current environment.

During this plant tour, executives from ARPM member companies will have opportunity to listen to Home Rubber’s team discuss their approach to Lean Manufacturing, what they have accomplished in that journey so far, and what their next steps are. And, for a niche manufacturer, Home Rubber represents a breadth of capability certain to apply to everyone in attendance. In the spirit of continuous improvement, participating executives will have the opportunity to get new opportunities for improvement in their own facilities as well as offer up best practices and solutions to their industry peers.
